Project Description

Located in the heart of Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Teheran-ro is a symbol of Korea’s high-density business district, characterized by standardized high-rise buildings and a rigid urban fabric. Our proposal seeks to challenge this homogeneity by introducing a future-oriented architectural strategy rooted in green infrastructure and human-scale experience. Through the integration of lush greenery throughout the site and the creation of open, low-rise zones that combine commercial, cultural, and leisure functions, the project transforms the urban block into a vibrant place of connection and exchange.
This approach encourages inclusive, everyday engagement while softening the harshness of the built environment. The resulting urban landscape is conceived as a three-dimensional collage, where diverse functions, textures, and experiences coexist in harmony—each element distinct, yet carefully calibrated to form a cohesive whole. Nature is not a backdrop, but an active participant in shaping spatial and social quality. Ultimately, this design repositions Teheran-ro from a mono-functional business district to a multi-layered urban ecosystem, where architecture mediates between city and nature, work and life.

서울시 강남구 테헤란로는 고밀도 업무지구로 획일화된 고층 경관이 주를 이루고 있다. 이에 대응하는 녹지 중심, 사람 중심의 새로운 건축계획을 통하여 미래 도시 경관의 전환점을 제시하고자 한다. 도심 속 곳곳에 녹지를 풍부하게 도입하여 자연의 숨결을 불어넣고, 저층부에는 상업, 문화, 휴식 기능을 결합한 개방적 공간을 마련해 다양한 사람들이 모이고 교류하는 장이 형성되도록 하였다. 이처럼 기능과 환경, 인간 활동이 유기적으로 얽혀 구성되는 경관은, 마치 서로 다른 색과 질감을 지닌 이미지들이 한 화면 안에 조화롭게 배치된 콜라주와 같다. 각 요소는 독립적이면서도 전체적인 맥락 속에서 어우러져, 새로운 도시적 풍경을 만들어낸다. 이러한 계획은 테헤란로를 단순한 업무 공간이 아닌, 자연과 삶이 공존하는 다층적이고 풍부한 도시 공간으로 재창조되는 미래적 비전을 담고 있다.
