This project is aim to retrospect the history by focusing on the land and extends the urban street from them to the vertical. Our intent is to bring traces of the history of Seoul to the interior of the mega structure through cracks and rifts that occur in the lift historical land. We suggest the new vertical structure will bring the sense of its historical side and a new concept of transportable apartment housing together. Breaking from the convention about immobile residence, we suggest the below new concept residence model. This mobile house can allow the public to move and carry out different activities freely and enjoy the city’s scenic beauty and sports activity on high retrospect to its history.
This proposal shows a new paradigm for mega structure of the next generation. There are some fundamental elements; Sense of place, Mobility, and Extension of Roads. For one thing, this building gives diverse function as to continue on its functionality from the past to now. Therefore, the residents will be are able to retrospect the meaning of the history in the city. Also, the function gives chances to meet the residents by chance. Secondly, mobile housing provides the public with new experiences like nomadic tribes within the mega structure. People can easily move vertically and horizontally in a way that they are able to reside in scenic spot or watch a soccer game overhead. For instance, if a family wants to give chances for their child to go on playground, they can choose to live nearby the lifted playground. Lastly, through the extended roads from land to the vertical in this city, the public can access the new mega structure with ease. The green rooftop in all parts among the rifts serves as the lung which can breathe and rest within the past of history in the city.

 

Remembrance

The reason for choosing this land is that this island was called ‘Yeouido’ and it was the only place not to be affected by flooding at that time, according to the written document in 1751. Therefore people who lived by had made use of this land for cultivating mulberry or and for growing vegetables. After reclaiming work, the land was paved by asphalt in order to use it as an aerodrome and served as a gate in communication with United States armies. In 1969, this land shape was formed with gravels gained by bombing nearby island which name is ‘Bam sum’.
From 1971 to 1999, this asphalt pavement was used as a plaza where ceremonies and assemblies were held. At the same time, this place provided the public as a leisure space for roller skating, basketball playground and swimming pool linked with the Han-river.
All these activities are closely related and linked with the Han-river geographically. In 1975, the urban development began in earnest by means of moving the National Assembly Building which was originally located in Taepyoung-ro street. Furthermore, an apartment building of twelve-story on the periphery of this island, was firstly erected in Seoul.
This district has been radically changed into financial hub like Wall Street in Manhattan of which by moving the majority of government agencies and the public services to this area (i.e. Broad-casting stations, Publishing companies and Telecommunication companies). Eventually, the city has grown and expanded into a greater scale by integration of asphalt pavement into the park with green. The park also provides the public a shelter point in connecting with a sightseeing cruise and a fishing place on Han-river.
With reminiscing the reclamation of land, at the same time, residents can fully self-sufficient by growing vegetables in green house without concern of climate change or water supply.  The plug-in and play type system will be applied in this land is the method which for connecting to the infrastructure and supply nourishment upon to individual movements. Therefore, the movable and transportable house can be easily moved and flexibly connected from one place to another.
By means of lifting the land intact, the land serves program on high same as the past and void space at ground level which will free a room for the public. Since the pool lifted on the 69th floor, residents are able to enjoy swimming and overlook the whole city at the same time.
